Common Sense For Common People

MYTHICAL PROPOSITION

October 4th, 2009 by Ted Silberstein

In the spirit of getting along with the Liberals, the Left, the Democrats, whatever you call them, on behalf of Conservatives, the Right, the Republicans, I offer this Mythical proposition:

You seem to believe that we are the ugly America, responsible for the disdain that so many nations and cultures around the world have toward us.  You seem to believe that it is our responsibility to make the first grand gesture to reach out to these cultures and plead guilty for all our mistakes and pledge as Mr. Obama has done on his global mission apologizing for America, to be a more understanding America, and that we should demonstrate the spirit of this new America by laying our nation open by dismantling our military defenses, missile defenses, throwing open our borders to any and all.   You believe that we must not only discontinue the tough interrogation methods on our enemies, which even at its harshest pale by comparison to the horror and barbarism of the methods used by our enemies against American captives, we should even prosecute our intelligence operatives for using them during a time of war.  You seem to believe that only in this way can we change the image of America in the eyes of our enemies and be embraced and beloved by those cultures who now hate America.

Very well then, here’s the proposition:

We, the Conservatives, the Right, the Republicans whatever you call us, agree to try it your way first.  We agree to support the wishes of the Liberals, the Left, the Democrats and support America being the first to blink, to make the first grand gesture to reach out to all those who hate everything America stands for and who believe it is their duty to their god to cut our throats and the throats of our children; and promise to be a better more understanding America, accepting of our enemy’s ideologies; to disarm our national defenses and to fling open our borders without restriction; never to use interrogation techniques against our enemy combatants which offend your sense of morality; and when American citizens are kidnapped in the Mideast, like the three wayward journalism activists who recently wandered into Iran and got themselves captured – do these people ever pick up a paper or even listen to their NPR (National Public-Option Radio?) and know where it might not be a good place to go hiking these days, these activists who probably regularly denounce our military as criminals, but who are now no doubt praying for our military to save them from beheading, yes instead of using military operations to rescue these hippie-crites from the beheaders we’ll send – Greenpeace!   Yes we will agree to support all of this.

In return, You, the Liberals, the Left, the Democrats shall agree that when after we extend our open arms in these ways to the cultures who are committed to our extinction, AND IT FAILS, when after America makes this first grand gesture of open arms, open minds and open borders, and these cultures still tell America to go take a flying roll in a donut, which they will and we will know it very quickly [Footnote:  Despite the fact that he as already reached out to the world in exactly all of these ways, again the Taliban called Obama their number one enemy, Bin Laden again called Obama weak; Zawahri called Obama a fraud, Ghadafi called Obama his son; Armageddonjahd again denied the Holocaust and got caught red handed building a nuclear weapons plant and called Obama’s sanctions over Iran’s nuclear program “annoying flies,” and Kim Jong Mentally ill attacked U.S. ally South Korea and vowed to would retaliate “1000 fold” if we dare to defend her  – so how’s that worked out for us so far?];

You, the Liberals, the Left, the Democrats, yes when it fails, and if we are lucky enough to still be alive when it does, You shall agree to accept the fact that we gave it a try, and be satisfied knowing that America took the moral high road and tried it your way and we were still despised.  You shall now agree to support the wishes of the Conservatives, the Right, the Republicans and support strengthening our military, enhancing not abandoning our missile defense systems, closing and securing our borders, beginning the deportation of the millions of illegal immigrants in America BEFORE Mr. Obama invokes abracadabra amnesty granting them all legal status so he won’t be lying when he says his healthcare bill won’t cover illegal immigrants – because they will have all been made legal (remember Michelle’s first big quote after the election, since parroted by Obama himself and Janet Incompetano and the rest of the liberal world – we must provide a “pathway to citizenship” for all illegal immigrants in this country– We do?); you will support a 10 year moratorium on even legal immigration, and you will support the interrogation tactics necessary to save innocent American lives – including yours.

Although we may disagree with many of Mr. Obama’s solutions, he is our President and we do not accept his being made a fool of by thug leaders of thug nations,  Therefore you also agree to support that the second any of our known aggressors tees up a rocket of any kind or gets caught red handed building a nuclear weapons facility, especially in the very midst of our President’s speeches in front of the world warning them not to, as has now happened at least thrice, we get to take them out in a star spangled blaze of glory.

Finally, both parties agree not to discuss the Nobel Prize because frankly nobody, including Mr. Obama by his own admission seems to be able to find anything he has accomplished to discuss.

Do we have an agreement?

Addendum 1 – Do we have an agreement? is a Yes or No question calling for a Yes or No answer, and a 20 minute bashing of George Bush (normally the only way liberals know how to answer any question) IS NOT a Yes or No answer!

Addendum 2 –   The reason this is a Mythical proposition of course is because we would never ever in our right minds ever agree to try it your way first because if we did none of us might be left alive to try it our way

Addendum 3 – When it comes to the sewage bilge pump otherwise known as Congressman Alan disGrayson’s mouth (I’m appalled that he was ever elected my congressman):

(a)  I point out to him that when Obama’s healthcare overlords decided that early cancer detecting mammograms should not be conducted at the age of 40 but should be delayed until after the age of 50, it seems to us that it is the Democrats who want the women of America to “die and die quickly”

(b)  If he doesn’t see the reason why comparing healthcare in America to the Holocaust is so repugnant, I have 6 Million reasons for him!

House of Representatives Resolution 615 (HR 615)

September 17th, 2009 by Rich Szabo

On Tuesday, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment, courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn which would require all Members of Congress and their staff members to enroll in any new government-run health plan.

Congressman John Fleming (Louisiana physician) has proposed an amendment that would require Congressmen and Senators to take the same health care plan that they would force on us. (Under proposed legislation they are exempt.)

Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go to his Website and sign his petition. The process is very simple. I have done just that at:
http://fleming.house.gov/index.html
Please urge as many people as you can to do the same!

If Congress forces a “health care plan” on us, they should have to accept the same level of health care for themselves and their families.

Nancy Pelosi claims “Smears” against Health Reform

August 28th, 2009 by Rich Szabo

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has launched an urgent effort to raise $100,000 by Monday to help combat what she calls GOP “smears” about health care reform.

“Republican opponents of reform are coming out with one outrageous smear after the next, all aimed at derailing our progress. We must be able to counter their special interest-funded attacks and set the record straight,” Pelosi wrote in a letter to Democratic supporters.

Smears? What smears? All you have to do is actually READ this piece of crap and you will see that everyone against it has the TRUTH.

“That’s why I have set a goal of raising $100,000 in grassroots donations before the August FEC fundraising deadline,” says Pelosi.

Pelosi and Democrats are clearly worried that they’ve lost momentum on health care reform this month, and many in her caucus have been crushed by opposition at town hall events. Of course! What did she expect? Americans to just sit by and let yet another piece of legislation get jammed down our collective throats? People are coming out in droves from every walk of life, political party to fight this drival and keep our freedom.

Pelosi’s appeal is aimed at small donors, and she asks for donations of $5 or more in her letter.

Democrats for weeks have been on the defensive, accusing Republicans of mischaracterizing their reform effort. President Barack Obama fired back several weeks ago after Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), a key Republican negotiator on the Senate Finance Committee, said the Democratic push threatened to “pull the plug on grandma.”

Now, Pelosi is pushing back.

“Republicans are doing everything they can to spread the lies they hope will kill health insurance reform,” Pelosi writes at the end of the e-mail. “Please make a generous financial contribution to help Democrats get the truth out and fight GOP smears.”

Again, maybe she should read the Bill and wake up to the fact that the detractors are actually telling the TRUTH.

White House Turning Into The KGB

August 8th, 2009 by Rich Szabo

People are being asked by the government to report people who they talk to that oppose healthcare reform. In other words the government is asking Americans to spy on other Americans and report them if their views are different than the president’s views.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/

The whitehouse website states: “If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”

Did you ever believe that this day would come in America? Suddenly opposing the president isn’t patriotic, as it was when Bush was the president. Now if you oppose the president, the government is asking that you be reported for simply debating the issues with another citizen.

Obama has drawn a line in the sand, he has defined his enemy and his enemy is anybody who opposes a government takeover of the healthcare industry. One can judge a person by the company he keeps and Barack Obama is no exception. He has aligned himself with radicals all of his life and because of that we can label him a radical. But you can also measure a person by who he calls his enemies and with this website page Barack Obama has called over 50% of Americans his enemy.

What are they going to do? Send the KGB to our homes and arrest us? Then stick us in a Gulag for the rest of our lives?

We cannot stand for his Orwellian policies any longer, it is time to stand up. Barack Obama is trying to marginalize and intimidate those who do not agree with him. It is now more important than ever to stand up and tell the president that those who oppose him are not going away because of a simple intimidation tactic, if anything this should galvanize us against such fascistic behavior. It is time to take our country back!

Call, email, write and TURN YOURSELF IN!

Henry Louis Gates Jr. Has Some Real Issues

July 30th, 2009 by Rich Szabo

Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., one of the nation’s pre-eminent African-American scholars, was arrested Thursday afternoon at his home by Cambridge police investigating a possible break-in. The incident raised concerns among some Harvard faculty that Gates was a victim of racial profiling.

He was booked for disorderly conduct after “exhibiting loud and tumultuous behavior,” according to a police report. Gates accused the investigating officer of being a racist and told him he had “no idea who he was messing with,” the report said.

Obama got into the middle of this before he even knew the details. But then again, do you really expect Barry to READ a police report when he hasn’t even read the Healthcare Bill?

The only people who were being racist were Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Barry Obama.

Obam’s Healthcare Fiasco

July 21st, 2009 by Rich Szabo

The White House has launched a new phase of its strategy designed to pass Obamacare: all Obama, all the time. As part of that effort, Obama hosted a conference call with leftist bloggers urging them to pressure Congress to pass his health plan as soon as possible.

During the call, a blogger from Maine said he kept running into an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance. He asked: “Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?” President Obama replied: “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.” (quote begins at 17:10)

This is a truly disturbing admission by Obama, especially considering that later in the call, Obama promises yet again: “If you have health insurance, and you like it, and you have a doctor that you like, then you can keep it. Period.” How can Obama keep making this promise if he is not familiar with the health legislation that is being written in Congress? Details matter.

The House bill does not outright outlaw private individual health insurance, but it does effectively regulate it out of existence. The House bill does allow private insurance to be sold, but only “Exchange-participating health benefits plans.” In order to qualify as an “Exchange-participating health benefits plan,” all health insurance plans must conform to a bunch of new regulations, including community rating and guaranteed issue. These will all send the cost of private individual health insurance skyrocketing. Furthermore, all these new regulations would not apply just to individual insurance plans, but to all insurance plans. So the House bill will also drive up the cost of your existing employer coverage as well. Until, of course, it becomes so expensive that your company makes the perfectly economical decision to dump you into the government plan.

* Approximately 103 million people would be covered under the new public plan and, as a consequence, about 83.4 million people would lose their private insurance. This would represent a 48.4 percent reduction in the number of people with private coverage.
* About 88.1 million workers would see their current private, employer-sponsored health plan go away and would be shifted to the public plan.
* Yearly premiums for the typical American with private coverage could go up by as much as $460 per privately-insured person, as a result of increased cost-shifting stemming from a public plan modeled on Medicare.

So King Barry is no better than those on the Hill that just sign things without reading them! It is also an “out” for Obama in case the bill fails. By admitting now that he is unaware of parts of the bill (especially the parts that upset most people), if the bill should fail, Obama could say that he had nothing to do with this part. It’s just good politics!

Saying “not familiar” well isn’t that presidential! How “familiar” are the congressmen? or the public? Yet they want to ram healthcare down the throats of hard working American, to fund the “not so hard working” people, including illegal occupants, tax our children to death, destroy the best parts of our healthcare system, and put everyone on a system similar to worker’s comp. Well I hope everyone likes the treatment they get with worker’s comp, because that is the treatments being proposed. If you don’t like it, go to Canada for treatment. oops. They don’t have a better system, now they won’t be able to come here either. How about this for a “change” ?

I am absolutely amazed that Obama took more time in considering what breed of dog to get for a family pet than the time he is allowing Congress to consider this HUGE National Health Care bill. His audacity is absolutely amazing.

NOW is the time for the Republican Party to capitalize on this mess! They need to become vocal and SHOW THE PROOF that Obama is lying and the Hill is trying to turn us into a Socialist Society! How can Investors Business Daily make all of this information public and the House Republicans and Senate Republicans just sit there twiddling their thumbs? THIS is the information that you should be walking all over this so called, “American Born” excuse for a President with!

But I won’t hold my breath waiting for the Republican Party to do anything. It’s up to We the People to make a difference. Call, write, email your Congressmen and tell the what you think.

We Still Can Defeat the Cap and Trade Tax!

June 26th, 2009 by Rich Szabo

House Democrats narrowly won a key test vote Friday on sweeping legislation to combat global warming and usher in a new era of cleaner energy. Republicans said the bill included “the largest tax increase in American history.”

The vote was 217-205 to advance the White House-backed legislation to the floor, and 30 Democrats defected, a reflection of the controversy the bill sparked. To ensure final passage, the bill needs 218 votes.

You can STOP them by contacting your Congressman HERE.

You can read the entire text of the Bill here. It now weighs in at more than 1,300 pages. How many of these dweebs actually read it?

The legislation would impose limits for the first time on carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas pollution from power plants, factories and refineries. It also would force a shift from coal and other fossil fuels to renewable and more efficient forms of energy. Supporters and opponents agreed the result would be higher energy costs, but disagreed widely on the impact on consumers.

President Obama has made the measure a top priority of his first year in office. The president, along with White House aides and House Democratic leaders, scrambled for the votes to assure passage. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has pledged to get the legislation passed before lawmakers leave on their July 4 vacation.

The Senate has yet to act on the measure, and a major struggle is expected.

In the House, the bill’s fate depended on the decisions of a few dozen fence-sitting Democrats, mainly conservatives and moderates from contested districts who feared the political ramifications of siding with the White House and their leadership on the measure.

Democrats left little or nothing to chance. Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Calif., confirmed by the Senate on Thursday to an administration post, put off her resignation from Congress until after the final vote on the climate change bill.

“The bill contains provisions to protect consumers, keep costs low, help sensitive industries transition to a clean energy economy and promote domestic emission reduction efforts,” the White House in a statement of support for the legislation.

Republicans saw it differently.

This “amounts to the largest tax increase in American history under the guise of climate change,” said Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind.

While the bill would impose a “cap-and-trade” system that would force higher energy costs, Republicans for weeks have branded it an energy tax on every American.

But Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., said there was a “moral imperative to be good stewards of the earth.”

The legislation, totaling about 1,200 pages, would require the U.S. to reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions by 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020 and about 80 percent by the next century.

U.S. carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels are rising at about 1 percent a year and are predicted to continue increasing without mandatory caps.

Under the bill, the government would limit heat-trapping pollution from factories, refineries and power plants. It would distribute pollution allowances that could be bought and sold, depending on whether a facility exceeds the cap or makes greater pollution cuts than are required.

Obama on Thursday called it “a vote of historic proportions … that will open the door to a clean energy economy” and green jobs. “It will create millions of new jobs,” Pelosi insisted.

Both Obama and Pelosi preferred to focus on the economic issues rather than on what environmentalists view as the urgency of reducing carbon emissions blamed for global warming.

The Rust Belt coal-state Democrats who have been sitting on the fence worry about how to explain their vote for higher energy prices to people back home — and how the vote might play out in elections next year.

Republicans have been quick to exploit those concerns.

“Democratic leaders are poised to march many moderate Democrats over a cliff … by forcing them to vote for a national energy tax that is unpopular throughout the heartland,” Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio said.

There was widespread agreement that under this cap-and-trade system, the cost of energy would almost certainly increase. But Democrats argued that much of the impact on taxpayers would be offset by other provisions in the bill. Low-income consumers would qualify for credits and rebates to cushion the impact on their energy bills.

Two reports issued this week — one from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and the other from the Environmental Protection Agency — seemed to support that argument.

The CBO analysis estimated that the bill would cost an average household $175 a year; the EPA put it at between $80 and $110 a year.

Republicans questioned the validity of the CBO study and noted that even that analysis showed actual energy production costs increasing $770 per household. Industry groups have cited other studies showing much higher cost to the economy and to individuals.

The Senate is expected to be voting on this as well. Tell them no!

John Kerry Is A Joke

June 25th, 2009 by Rich Szabo

John Kerry added to his long list of lame joke attempts yesterday when he wished South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford’s disappearance on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Speaking to some business and civic leaders he had invited to Washington, Kerry said: “Too bad if a governor had to go missing it couldn’t have been the governor of Alaska. You know, Sarah Palin.”

He should talk. He’s his own walking punchline.

So Mr. Kerry, let’s look at you:

“John Kerry went duck hunting and he’s doing that to fulfill his campaign pledge to hunt down the ducks and kill them wherever they are. Kerry did pretty well; he came back with four ducks and three Purple Hearts.” —David Letterman

“Last week, Senator Kerry was eight points behind President Bush, today he is three points ahead. Is this the kind of indecision we want in a president?” —Announcer in a mock Bush-Cheney ad, “Late Show With David Letterman”

“We make jokes about it but the truth is this presidential election really offers us a choice of two well-informed, opposing positions on every issue. OK, they both belong to John Kerry, but they’re still there.” —Jay Leno

“John Kerry met with the AARP. They were having their convention. He gave a speech, then Kerry introduced his retirement plan — his wife, Teresa.” —Jay Leno

“Bush and Cheney say now they’re targeting people who can’t make up their minds, so apparently they’re trying to get John Kerry’s vote as well.” —Jay Leno

“John Kerry says the ‘W’ in George W. Bush stands for ‘Wrong.’ But he still can’t explain what John Kerry stands for.” —David Letterman

“On the campaign trail, the president continued what has been a theme throughout the year: John Kerry is a flip-flopper. Oh, and also consistently liberal.” —Jon Stewart

“Vice President Dick Cheney attacked John Kerry. He said that John Kerry ‘lacks deeply held convictions.’ Today Kerry shot back, he said, ‘That’s not completely true.'” —Jay Leno

“John Kerry announced a fool-proof plan to wipe out the $500 billion deficit. John Kerry has a plan, he’s going to put it on his wife’s Gold Card.” —Craig Kilborn

“They say John Kerry is the first Democratic presidential candidate in history to raise $50 million in a three-month period. Actually, that’s nothing. He once raised $500 million with two words: ‘I do.'” —Jay Leno

“This is so weird. I saw the new John Kerry campaign commercial and he says, ‘I’m John Kerry and I approve of this message — if I have one.'” —Craig Kilborn

“The White House began airing their TV commercials to reelect the president, and the John Kerry campaign is condemning his use of 9/11 in the ads. He said it is unconscionable to use the tragic memory of a war in order to get elected, unless of course, it’s the Vietnam War.” —Jay Leno

“There was an embarrassing moment at a recent Democratic fundraiser. When John Kerry was handed a $10 million dollar check, he said, ‘I do.'” -Craig Kilborn

“John Kerry and Ralph Nader met face-to-face, it was a historic meeting. Astronomers said today their meeting actually created what is called a ‘charisma black hole.'” -Jay Leno

“John Kerry accused President Bush of catering to the rich. You know, as opposed to John Kerry who just marries them.” -Jay Leno

I still can’t believe the people in the Republic of Massachusetts keep voting for this guy.

I still can’t believe the people in the Republic of Massachusetts keep voting for this guy.
